Safeguarding
Nothing is more important than the safety and wellbeing of our pupils. We have robust safeguarding procedures in place to ensure a secure and nurturing environment for every child under our care.
Our dedicated safeguarding team, led by Designated Safeguarding Lead Ms Sanis (Inclusion Leader), works tirelessly to uphold the highest standards of child protection.
Earlham Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the physical, mental and emotional welfare of every pupil, both inside and outside of the school premises. We implement a whole-school preventative approach to managing safeguarding concerns, ensuring that the wellbeing of pupils is at the forefront of all action taken. We work closely with all multi-agencies to ensure that children are protected from risk of emotional and physical harm or at risk from neglect. We follow stringent procedures for the recruitment of staff and for visitors entering our school.
The school has a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, including peer-on-peer abuse, as stated in the Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.
We take student welfare and safety very seriously and take action to reduce all kinds of harm including: abuse, bullying, discrimination and avoidable injuries. We also promote a culture where children and adults feel confident to share their concerns about their own or others’ safety and wellbeing.
All staff receive regular safeguarding training, and we continue to ensure that our staff, governors, parents/carers and students work together to keep children safe. We take account of the information contained in the DfE documents 'Working Together to Safeguard Children' and 'Keep Children Safe in Education: Statutory Guidance for Schools and Colleges' (September 2024) as the safety and protection of children is of paramount importance to everyone in this school and we work hard to create a culture of awareness.
If a pupil discloses information that raises concerns, our staff are trained to respond promptly and sensitively. We use a secure online system (CPOMS) to record and escalate any safeguarding issues, ensuring that the appropriate authorities are notified without delay.
We believe in empowering our students to speak up and seek help when needed. Our staff are trained to listen without judgement, reassure the child, and take immediate action to address their concerns.
Confidentiality is of utmost importance, and information is shared strictly on a need-to-know basis, ensuring the privacy and dignity of our students and their families.
What to do if you are concerned about a child?
Adults have a responsibility to share any concerns they have, even when they may have some doubts as to whether a child is being harmed. If you are concerned about a child, speak to someone. This might be a health visitor, teacher, family doctor, social worker or police officer. You can also contact the school (0208 888 2780 / office@earlham.haringey.sch,uk) and request to speak to Ms Sanis, the Safeguarding Lead.
If you are worried about something online or something involving you online, you can let the school know.
If you have a concern out of school hours and it is urgent you can contact the Local Authority directly to make a referral.
